3-O-ethyl ascorbic acid ether is also called Vitamin C ethyl e ther. Vitamin C cannot be directly absorbed by the skin due to its structure with 4 hydroxyl groups, and it is easily oxidized to cause discoloration, and its use as a whitening agent in cosmetics is restricted.
